Zipper Repairs

Center Front Jacket Zippers (Main Zipper)

Replacement of Center Front Zipper Slider: $25

Replacement of Center Front Zipper: The cost of replacing a center front zipper varies depending on factors such as the jacket’s construction, the type of zipper (e.g., H20, tooth size, 1-way or 2-way feature), the brand and value of the jacket, its age and wear, the presence of seam tape, and the desired aesthetic outcome. Prices typically range from $90 to $190.

Pocket Zippers

Pocket Zipper Slider Replacement: $25

Pocket Zipper Replacement: This starts at $65 but may cost up to $125 based on the complexity of construction and deconstruction, age, wear, brand, and desired aesthetic outcome.

Pant Fly Zippers

Pant Fly Zipper Slider Replacement: $25

Pant Fly Zipper Replacement: Unlined pant front fly zipper replacements start at $65 and increase based on construction and deconstruction needed for repair. Lined, insulated, seam-taped pants generally increase to $75-145.

Tent Zippers

Tent Zipper Slider Replacement (One Door, Two sliders): $50 (if zipper teeth and stitching are in good shape)
Full Tent Zipper Replacement: $17/foot for the first 6 feet ($100), then an additional $8/foot thereafter

Sleeping Bag Zippers

Sleeping Bag Zipper Slider Replacement: $25-$40
Full Sleeping Bag Zipper Replacement: Labor costs start at $100 and may increase depending on the complexity of construction and deconstruction, age, wear, brand, and desired aesthetic outcome. We stock tooth sizes 5, 8, and 10.

Backpack and Bag Zippers

Bag Zipper Slider Replacement: $35-45 (if zipper teeth and stitching are in good shape)
Main Compartment Bag Zipper Replacement: $85-150+
Small Pockets Bag Zipper Replacement: $65-95

  • Criteria for Repair: We can only replace zippers on unstructured bags, meaning they have no padding or stiffeners and the bag or pack can be easily turned inside out. If your bag does not meet these criteria, it may be deemed unrepairable. In this case, return shipping fees won’t be covered.
    • Bags and packs must be clean and dry.
  • Additional Information: Full zipper replacements include YKK brand luggage-grade zippers.

Patching (All Items)

We prioritize durability and function while matching your damaged item’s original color and aesthetic. Let us know if you prefer a contrasting patch, playful color, or print!

The patching prices vary based on various factors such as the size of the damaged area, construction, insulation, age and wear of the item, brand, and desired outcome.

Patching Starting Price (Up to 25 square inches): $45 for outerwear, sleeping bags, and tents.
Smaller Patches: $45 – $75
More extensive, More Complex Patches: $85 – $155+ for outerwear, sleeping bags, bags, packs, and tents with larger patches or added construction complexities

 

  • Rugged Thread cannot refill an entire item with down insulation in our shop, as we do not have a down-specific room. We do add “handfuls” of down to baffles we are patching or specific areas for $5 per handful.

Hardware Replacements Including, But Not Limited To: Button, Snap, and Buckles

Hardware Replacements: $45 – $75+

  • Prices vary based on the damage, construction, wear, quantity, and accessibility. We stock:

How It Works

  1. To request a quote, you can either fill out our online form or visit our shop located in Bend, Oregon for an assessment. If you choose to submit your request online, please attach good-quality photos of the item and the areas that require repair. We will respond to your request via email within three business days. Once our team provides you with a quote, you will receive a shipping form to include with your package when you ship your item to our shop.
  2. Ship it: Print and complete our shipping repair form (Rugged-Thread-Shipping-Form.pdf) and include it with your item(s). Please ensure that your item(s) is/are clean and dry.
  3. Receive Inspection Quote:  Within five business days of receiving your item, we will email confirmation, repair options, and pricing before beginning any work. Once the options and pricing are approved, we will add your repair(s) to our queue. We will text you to clarify any information during the production process.
  4. Quality Check: Our QC performs a quality check on every repair to ensure it meets our standards and your expectations.
  5. Pick Up or Delivery: You can collect your repaired outerwear in-store or opt for return shipping. We will email you an online link for shipped items to process payment. Return shipments generally go out within 24 hours of payment.

Notes:

  • Based on the material and complexity of the repair, prices may vary by up to 25% from the quoted repair amount.
  • Our turnaround time may vary depending on the type and complexity of the repair and seasonal workload. Our busiest season is from January to April.
